The Mayflower size guide is based on chest width measured directly on the body.
When an over-width is given in Mayflower patterns, this number is adjusted to the fit that the designer intended the design to have. The stated bust width also includes the range of motion.

Men's sweater with collar in Mayflower 1 class
Solid classic stylish modern men's sweater with shawl collar knitted in the delicious yarn from Mayflower called Mayflower 1 class. Mayflower 1 class is a blended wool consisting of 75% Wool Superwash and 25% Nylon, running approximately 210 meters per 50 grams. Mayflower 1 class can be used for sweaters, cardigans, and other clothing items, only the imagination sets the limits. Mayflower 1 class is so durable that it can easily be used for socks as well. Mayflower 1 class can be machine washed on a wool program.
