Taormina Shade is spun on the same fibers and in exactly the same way as our popular color-changing yarn, Taormina. The colors are also derived from Taormina, so it is ideal to combine the two yarns, for example with solid-colored borders or stripes.

Can be used to..

Taormina Shade is produced in Italy at a renowned spinning mill with a strong focus on quality. The yarn is composed of the softest alpaca fibers from Peru. Alpaca is a durable and breathable fiber that is both warmer and softer than sheep's wool. In other words, the alpaca wool gives Taormina Shade an amazing woolly softness that feels wonderful against your skin. The yarn is also really nice to work with and can be used for both knitting and crochet projects.

The delicious and fluffy fiber composition, including soft alpaca and durable polyamide, makes Taormina Shade the perfect choice for soft, warm clothing such as sweaters and cardigans, as well as accessories such as hats, scarves and super soft scarves. The yarn is 1-strand and therefore has a naturally varying thickness.

Taormina Shade is available in 26 unique colors, all of which have a beautiful, mottled play of colors. The darker the color, the more pronounced the play of colors and the depth of the yarn's shades. Simple stockinette or garter stitch in Taormina Shade will therefore automatically come to life due to the play of color and the yarn's mottled look, and it is also beautiful in pattern knitting.

For Taormina Shade, you can use any of our patterns developed for the color-changing Taormina. Perhaps a solid version of your favorite Taormina design - or just a version with solid sleeves or borders? Play with the two variants and break up Taormina's fine pattern repeat with a contrasting color. Either way, the result will have an amazing softness and the finest color expression.
