Hand-dyed yarn has color variations
Hand-dyed yarn has greater color variations than machine-dyed yarn. Therefore, Montreal can have shade differences even within the same skein, even if you use yarn from the same dye lot. To avoid abrupt transitions between skeins, we recommend creating a smooth transition at each skein change.
When you are nearing the end of your first skein, switch to the new skein. Knit/crochet for example 1-2 rounds with the new one, then 1-2 rounds with the old one, switch back and continue like this until the first skein is used up. It doesn't remove the difference, but smooths the transition between each skein a bit more.
About Montreal
The lovely, full-bodied volume and color play make Montreal suitable for, for example, stockinette stitch and simple designs, where instead the beautiful colors come into focus. The lustrous merino wool has a fantastic softness and a good weight. The yarn's volume makes it ideal for soft and full-bodied garments that should be used on the cold days of the year - such as a warm and cozy sweater. The yarn is suitable for both knitting and crocheting. The full-bodied structure makes it particularly important to make a knitting or crochet swatch, which is washed according to the instructions, before you start your project.
The hand-dyed Montreal comes in a fantastic selection of colors. Colors 1-10 are multicolored, where several different shades play together in a unique flow. Colors 11-14 are 'semi-solid' and not completely solid-colored, where the beautiful color depth is created with only one color. We have left the creamy white color no. 15 uncolored, and it is therefore suitable for hand-dyeing if you would like to experiment with yarn dyeing yourself.
Montreal is also spun from South American merino wool, which is mulesing-free. It is great for smaller projects like hats, neck warmers, gloves, etc. You can also combine the colors, for example, if you knit a sweater in 'semi-solid' with multicolored stripes.
NOTE
- Montreal is wound in skeins and therefore needs to be wound into balls before use
- Hand-dyed yarn varies greatly in color intensity and is uneven in dyeing, which is part of its charm
