Santiago is an incredibly airy and soft yarn quality, characterized by having a lovely and fluffy texture and some beautiful, mottled colors that provide a wonderful play of nuances. Santiago is spun on a wonderful blend of extra fine merino wool, soft baby alpaca, and durable, recycled polyamide.

Santiago is ideal for soft and cozy clothing as well as various accessories such as hats, scarves, and shawls. The yarn is an improved version of New Sky and can therefore be used for all Patterns and designs that have been developed for New Sky.

Santiago is spun at an Italian spinning mill with a strong focus on quality and has the most delicious, woolly blend with a super thin net of recycled polyamide, which both holds the fine fibers together and increases durability. The fiber content is carefully balanced to achieve the particularly soft and fluffy blend that is characteristic of Santiago.

Alpaca and wool are natural fibers that both warm and provide good breathability. Santiago is therefore also the ideal yarn for both knitting and crocheting, for example, clothing, lovely accessories like hats and shawls, or beautiful fluffy blankets. The extra fine merino wool is extremely soft - even against sensitive skin, and the lightweight yarn makes Santiago a delightful yarn to work with.

You might know the quality Mayflower New Sky. Santiago is an improved version of this quality. The difference is that Santiago contains more merino wool, and the wool is of extra fine quality. The yarn is therefore even better, much softer, and easier to knit with. Another difference is that Santiago uses 100% recycled polyamide. New Sky was very elastic, which could be challenging in relation to Knitting gauge. Santiago is less elastic - just enough to give the fine fibers extra hold in your knitting. Since Santiago has the same Knitting gauge as New Sky, you can easily use Santiago for Patterns, which was originally developed for New Sky. We recommend that you always make a crochet or knitting sample first, which is washed before you measure. This way, you have a better chance of hitting the precise Knitting gauge indicated in your Pattern.

Santiago comes in a range of beautiful colors, some of which are classics from the discontinued New Sky quality, while others are completely new shades.

The yarn is also available in a thinner version for needles 3.5-4 mm, Santiago Light.
