Can be used to..

York has all the natural good qualities of merino wool; high breathability, excellent at wicking excess heat away from the body, while being warm and insulating. Properties that are essential for good, high-quality woolen clothing. The yarn is also wonderfully soft and fine, making it great for sweaters, slipovers and of course soft hats, shawls and scarves.

York is perfect for those who want a wool yarn spun from a completely natural and pure fiber. Since York is non-superwash, the yarn is spun from the finest merino wool fibers, which gives the yarn its amazing softness.

It is very important that York is treated gently by hand washing with wool soap in lukewarm water. Also, avoid temperature fluctuations and rubbing. This will cause the wool to felt.

York is knitted/crocheted on a 3 mm needle and has a very nice and fine stitch pattern for everything from stockinette stitch to textured knitting. As York is suitable for 3 mm needles, the yarn is also suitable for patterns originally made in Easy Care, London Merino Fine and Amadora. In our universe of patterns, you'll find lots of great designs to get started with - including many baby patterns. Baby clothes and blankets will also be really soft and lovely in York, but just be extra careful to wash them gently by hand - and pass on the information if you knit or crochet for a lucky recipient.

York is available in 30 beautiful colors and is also really lovely when knitted with a companion yarn such as Premium Cassandra or Super Kid Silk. The yarn is also Oeko-Tex certified.

ATTENTION:

Superwash treatment removes the scales on the wool fibers, which makes the wool soft, and a coating is added to the wool fiber. The wool yarn can therefore withstand machine washing without filtering.

Non-superwash treated wool yarn should be washed much more gently and always wash according to the instructions and never in the machine, otherwise it will felt.

For washing all types of wool yarn, we always recommend wool soap (regardless of whether the yarn is superwash treated or not). In general, it is only necessary to wash knitwear when it is dirty and in need of washing. Hanging it outside for airing is often enough.
