Mayflower Rimini is a unique yarn quality produced in Italy. It consists of lyocell and polyamide in a unique composition, where a thin polyamide tube forms a net around a base of lyocell fibers.

Lyocell is one of the fibers of the future and is also known by many under the brand name TENCEL™. It is based on organic and renewable wood fibers, most commonly from eucalyptus. These are converted into long fibers that can then be spun into soft, durable yarn for use in both textiles and hand knitting. The production of lyocell fibers is a gentle and environmentally friendly closed-loop process where the production materials are recycled.

Mayflower Rimini is the perfect year-round yarn. It is soft and lightweight, even though the yarn is quite bulky and gives both knitting and crochet a nice fullness. Garments made with Rimini are therefore comfortable and lovely to wear in both summer and winter.

Rimini utilizes all the good properties of lyocell. The yarn is extremely soft and the texture is both firm and light. It is suitable for knitting, but the relatively firm structure also makes it great for crochet projects. If you use it for clothing, you'll experience amazing comfort with ultra-soft volume.

Because the yarn is stretchy, it is best suited for large needles of at least 6 mm. Try it out, especially if you tend to knit tightly. The netting that surrounds the lyocell fibers is thin and fine, so we recommend that you treat it gently and away from Velcro, etc. that can tear the netting.

When working with Rimini, you will find that your finished work will have a beautiful play of colors. The color of the yarn is determined by the dyeing of the polyamide mesh, while the lyocell core is always white and neutral. This creates a beautiful, mottled color effect that has a distinctly different look than other mottled yarns. The effect becomes more pronounced the darker the color of the yarn.
