Mayflower Rimini is a completely unique yarn quality, produced in Italy. It consists of lyocell and polyamide in an exceptional composition, where a thin tube of polyamide forms a net around a base of lyocell fibers.

Lyocell is one of the fibers of the future, and is also known to many under the brand name TENCEL™. It is based on organic and renewable wood fibers, most often from eucalyptus trees. These are transformed into long fibers, which can then be spun into soft, durable yarn for use in both textiles and hand knitting. The production of lyocell fibers takes place in a gentle and environmentally friendly process in a closed loop, where the production materials are recycled.

Mayflower Rimini is the perfect year-round yarn. It is soft and light, even though the yarn is quite voluminous and gives both knitting and crocheting a nice fullness. Clothing in Rimini is therefore comfortable and delightful to wear, both in summer and winter.

In Rimini, all the good properties of lyocell are utilized. The yarn is extremely soft, and the texture is both firm and light. It is suitable for knitting, but the relatively firm structure also makes it fine for crochet projects. If you use it for clothing, you will experience fantastic comfort with ultra-soft volume.

Since the yarn is elastic, it is best suited for large needles of at least 6 mm. Experiment, especially if you tend to knit tightly. The net that encloses the lyocell fibers is thin and fine, so we recommend you handle it gently and keep it away from things like Velcro, etc., which can tear the net apart.

When you work with Rimini, you will notice that your finished work gets a beautiful color play. The color of the yarn is determined by the dyeing of the polyamide net, while the lyocell core is always white and neutral. This gives a beautiful, marbled color effect that has a distinctly different expression than other marbled yarns. The effect becomes more pronounced the darker the color of the yarn is.
