Mayflower Amadora is a luxurious, hand-dyed wool yarn spun from extra-fine merino wool. The quality is soft and delicious, but is also remarkable for its beautiful colors. The hand-dyed yarn is not a solid, but a semi-solid with a beautiful, deep play of colors. The texture and colors make Amadora an irresistible wool quality that is great for both knitting and crochet.

Amadora has a lovely elasticity that makes the stitches lay down beautifully in an even stitch pattern. It works particularly well in cables and lace patterns, as the elasticity of the yarn will make the fine details of the patterns stand out even more. In jacquard or fair-isle knits, Amadora will give your patterns extra life and color depth. 

Amadora is superwash treated and can therefore be machine washed gently.

Can be used to..

Extra fine merino wool is characterized by having finer fibers than regular merino. This means you get a yarn with even greater softness, so even those with sensitive skin can wear clothes made with Amadora. It's also machine washable, so it's easy to keep clean and tidy.

Part of the charm of hand-dyed yarn is that each individual skein is unique in its play of colors. When knitting with hand-dyed yarn, it's therefore important to make sure you have enough yarn for your project. Also, be aware that the differences between the individual color lots vary more than regular machine-dyed yarn. When changing skeins along the way, we recommend that you knit/crochet a few rounds alternating between the new skein and the old one to make the transition. and the old one to make the transition softer/less obvious.

The wool in Amadora comes from South America and is therefore mulesing-free. This means better animal welfare, so you can enjoy the soft wool with a clear conscience. It is also OEKO-Tex certified. The yarn comes in 100g skeins and is long-lasting. Calculate approx. 3 skeins for a basic sweater in size M. M. Amadora color. 01 (Cream) is undyed and can therefore be suitable if you want to try your hand at the art of hand dyeing.
