Hand-dyed yarn has color differences

Hand-dyed yarn has greater color differences than machine-dyed yarn. Therefore, Amadora can have shade differences even within the same skein, even if you use yarn from the same dye lot. To avoid abrupt transitions between skeins, we recommend creating a smooth transition at each skein change.

When you approach the end of your first skein, switch to the new skein. Knit/crochet, for example, 1-2 rounds with the new one, then 1-2 rounds with the old one, switch back and continue like this until the first skein is used up. It doesn't remove the difference but evens out the transition between each skein a bit more.

About Amadora

Amadora is hand-dyed wool yarn in extra fine merino wool. The yarn is not completely solid-colored but instead has a 'semi-solid' appearance, giving the luxurious yarn a beautiful play of colors.

In addition to its beautiful colors, the yarn also stands out for being exceptionally soft. Extra fine merino wool is characterized by having finer fibers than regular merino. Therefore, you get a yarn with even greater softness, so even those with sensitive skin can wear clothes made from Amadora. It is superwash-treated and can therefore be machine washed, making it easy to keep clean and neat.

When you work with Amadora, your stitches will lay beautifully and achieve an even stitch pattern due to the yarn's natural elasticity. Therefore, Amadora is particularly suitable for knitting with cables and lace patterns, as these will stand out beautifully in the finished result.

The wool in Amadora comes from South America and is therefore mulesing-free. This means better animal welfare, so you can enjoy the soft wool with a clear conscience. Furthermore, it is also OEKO-Tex certified. The yarn comes in skeins of 100g and goes a long way. Estimate about 3 skeins for a basic sweater in size M. Amadora color 01 (Cream) is undyed and can therefore be suitable if you want to try your hand at the art of hand dyeing.

Part of the charm of hand-dyed yarn is that each skein is unique in its color play. When knitting with hand-dyed yarn, it is therefore important to ensure that you have enough yarn for your project. Also, be aware that differences between individual dye lots vary more than regular machine-dyed yarn. When you change skeins along the way, we recommend knitting/crocheting a few rounds alternately with the new skein and the old one to make the transition smoother/less noticeable.
