Children's knitting is just so charming. Of course, this is partly due to the cute recipients of the knitted items, but you can't ignore the fact that many children's patterns are cuter, funnier and more unconventional than many adult knits.

The Little Mermaid Cardigan is a perfect example of children's knitting where imagination has been given free rein, and the result is this fairytale cardigan. In this design, a traditional check knitting pattern has been given a little twist, with every other check having a hole in the middle. The cardigan is finished with garter stitch edges for a finishing touch.

The cardigan is knitted in Mayflower Venezia, which consists of RWS certified wool and GOTS cotton and is available in a variety of beautiful colors. A yarn blend that is great for children as it is warm without being too hot. At the same time, Venezia is also very soft and therefore good for delicate children's skin.

The pattern is easy, as it does not use any difficult techniques other than knit and purl. The pieces are knitted separately and assembled at the end, which makes the sweater a manageable project as you only have to deal with one element at a time.
