Christmas is the perfect time to engage in crafts while the winter darkness descends over the country. Making Christmas decorations can further contribute to evoking the good Christmas spirit, and in addition, it's just a bonus that you get the most personal decorations for your home.
There are infinitely many possibilities when it comes to crocheted Christmas decorations, and here is our suggestion for a crocheted Christmas wreath that can adorn your wall or door. The wreath has a realistic appearance, so you almost believe it is real when you see it from a distance.
The wreath is crocheted in Mayflower Cotton 8/4 and Mayflower Cotton 8/4 Organic. Leaves and bow are crocheted with two threads to give more structure, while cones and berries are crocheted with one thread to provide finer details.
The Christmas wreath's leaves are crocheted with the technique called crocodile scales. Then, the rectangular piece with crocodile scales is sewn onto a polystyrene wreath to give the wreath its shape.
Crocodile scales can be a bit of a challenging technique if you haven't tried it before. Besides that, the wreath is delightfully easy to crochet, and it's super cozy to crochet the small decorative pieces. There are also plenty of opportunities to make your own version of the wreath by, for example, adding your own decorations. It doesn't all have to be crocheted.
