MAYFLOWERS SIZE GUIDE
(Valid for patterns created after September 1, 2021)

When an over-width is given in Mayflower patterns, this number is adjusted to the fit that the designer intended the design to have. The stated bust width also includes the range of motion.

Soft and warm bonnet in a textured pattern, knitted in a thin and light wool quality. You only need one skein. The bonnet's earflaps go well down over the child's ears and provide good protection against both wind and cold.
The 'Old Street Lamp' bonnet starts by first knitting the earflaps in stockinette stitch. Then the parts are gathered on one needle, and additional stitches are cast on at the neck and forehead. Continue knitting in the textured pattern until the top of the bonnet, where stockinette is knitted while decreasing stitches.
The ribbed edge is made by picking up and knitting stitches all the way around the edge. Bind off in rib, but avoid binding off a few stitches at the bottom of each earflap, where a tie is now knitted.
The bonnet is knitted in the soft and lovely Mayflower London Merino Fine, which is a wonderful wool yarn spun from extra fine merino wool. The bonnet thus becomes really comfortable, does not itch, and feels nice against the child's skin. The wool is breathable and warm, and the bonnet will therefore both warm and allow the child to release excess heat.
