Extra Fine Merino is much softer than the classic wool normally used in sock yarn. Here merino wool is combined with the even finer cashmere fiber. Polyamide ensures that the socks are not only soft but also durable. With 1 Class Cashmere, you are guaranteed a quality that can be knitted into delicious, comfortable and non-scratchy socks.

Mayflower 1 Class Cashmere is a wonderfully soft, high-quality sock yarn. It is composed of 65% extra fine merino wool, 25% polyamide and a full 10% soft cashmere. The yarn weighs 50g per skein. and you will therefore need approx. 2 balls of yarn to knit a pair of socks up to approx. size 46 in stockinette stitch. If you are knitting patterns such as cables, be aware that you will need more yarn than if you are knitting plain stockinette stitch or ribbing.

1 Class Cashmere is spun in Italy by a yarn manufacturer with many years of experience in producing really good sock yarn. The strong focus on quality in all aspects of production makes 1 Class a recognized quality. 1 Class Cashmere is a variant of 1 Class, but with an extra fine merino wool base. A much softer and finer wool than you find in regular sock yarn, and also finer than the wool in our Mayflower 1 Class. The merino wool comes from South America and is therefore 100% mulesing-free.

1 Class Cashmere is infused with cashmere, which adds extra shine and makes the yarn even more luxurious and soft. The 10% cashmere is quite high for such an exclusive and rare fiber, as it is only available in very limited quantities annually. Cashmere is soft, frizzy and finer than even the softest merino wool, which is known for its particularly soft properties. This delicious cashmere therefore works particularly well in a sock yarn, making socks even more comfortable to wear.

The best sock quality comes from the combination of wool and polyamide, which is also the basis for the fiber composition in our 1 Class Cashmere. Wool provides soft and warm socks, while polyamide helps to ensure high durability, as socks need to be able to withstand a lot of wear and tear. The yarn is superwash and can therefore withstand gentle machine washing with wool detergent.

In addition to socks, 1 Class Cashmere can also be used for soft garments such as baby clothes and baby blankets. 1 Class Cashmere has the same knitting tension as Mayflower 1 Class, so you can knit patterns that were originally made for 1 Class. With 1 Class Cashmere you get a softer and more exclusive result.
