Mayflower Venezia consists of soft wool fibers held together by a fine-mesh tube. The cotton tube is made from 100% organic and GOTS certified cotton. Venezia is produced especially for Mayflower in Italy and is a yarn we are very proud of.

Are animal welfare and sustainable initiatives important to you? Venezia is produced with 100% organic and GOTS certified cotton. This means, among other things, that the cotton is grown without chemicals and that it is hand-picked carefully and only exactly when it is ripe. In addition, all dyeing and treatment processes are carried out in an environmentally friendly way with strict requirements for wastewater management, transportation, waste sorting and, not least, good working conditions.

The mulesing-free merino wool used in Venezia is RWS certified. This coveted certification gives you a documented guarantee of the absolute best animal welfare. The sheep are free to live according to their natural instincts and are spared discomfort and pain. The RWS label makes the wool traceable throughout the supply chain back to the farm. At the same time, the RWS certificate also guarantees that biodiversity is protected in the sheep's grazing area, so the animals contribute to nature conservation instead. In short, the wool comes from sheep that have optimal living conditions.

Venezia is great for knitting, but is also excellent for crochet, where you may want to use a yarn with a slightly firmer structure. The airiness of the yarn also means that the crochet project will be softer. The yarn gives you a beautiful and even result with uniform stitches.

Venezia has a naturally rich volume. This is especially noticeable when working with the yarn, as it retains its airiness when you crochet or knit with it. It's best to use a needle and needle on the large side to prevent it from becoming too dense.

The extra fine merino content means that the yarn will occasionally have excess wool fibers, which is inevitable for all extra fine fibers such as cashmere, yak, merino wool, etc. Carefully remove the excess fibers either with a wool comb or a lint shaver.

You can use Venezia for all kinds of projects, but we would especially recommend sweaters, cardigans and vests for year-round use. You could also try adding Super Kid Silk to Venezia, which makes it even more luxurious and adds the coveted glassy sheen of mohair.
