Acanthus Sweater Junior Pattern
The sweater is knitted from the top down, on Circular Needle. First, cast on stitches for the neckline, which is knitted in twisted rib. Then, the stitches are divided with 8 markers, around which raglan increases are made. Short rows are first worked to shape the back piece, then knitted in the round, following the pattern according to the chart, while continuing to make increases around the markers. When the yoke is finished, the sleeve stitches are set aside while the front and back pieces are joined for the body, which is completed by knitting in the round. It is finished with a twisted rib edge and an Italian bind-off.
The sleeves are then knitted by placing the resting stitches back on the needle and picking up additional stitches in the armhole. The sleeves are knitted in the lace pattern, with decreases made continuously and finished with twisted rib edges and an Italian bind-off.
