The Christine Cardigan is knitted top down with beautiful saddle shoulders and an interesting construction. The shoulder pieces are worked first, then stitches are picked up for the front and back pieces. Finally, the sleeves and collars are worked on, leaving the cardigan completely unassembled.
The shoulders are worked in a beautiful, simple garter stitch pattern. This pattern continues all the way down the sleeves, giving the cardigan a cohesive look with attention to detail. As an added bonus, it's also quite easy to knit, even though the effect is so beautiful.
The Christine Cardigan is knitted with Mayflower Birmingham, which consists primarily of alpaca and wool. In addition, the yarn has the most beautiful tweed shades, which gives the yarn lots of personality and charm. The beautiful play of colors from the tweed is perfect for the simple Christine Cardigan, without taking attention away from the cardigan's beautiful details.
The pattern is relatively simple to knit, and the different construction makes it an exciting project even for experienced knitters.
