Santiago Light is a fantastic soft, light, and airy yarn of high quality. It consists of extra fine merino wool, completely soft baby alpaca, and recycled polyamide, and therefore has a wonderful softness with a cozy and fluffy structure. The colors are mottled, giving knitting and crocheting an unusually beautiful color play.

The soft yarn is ideal for everything from sweaters to scarves, and you get really far with 300 m per skein. Santiago Light is an improved version of New Sky Light and can therefore be used for many of our Patterns.

Santiago is produced for Mayflower at a renowned spinning mill in Italy with a strong focus on good craftsmanship, which can be felt. The yarn has a fantastic, lightweight fiber composition, which is both warm and durable, and the content of merino wool and alpaca gives the yarn a very special fluffy and cozy structure.

Alpaca and wool are both organic and breathable fibers that provide good warmth. The merino wool is extra fine and wonderfully soft and comfortable. Alpaca wool actually warms even more than sheep's wool and is also wonderfully soft and fine. Santiago is therefore a very soft and luxurious yarn, which is clearly noticeable when you knit or crochet with it.

All polyamide content is spun from 100% recycled fibers, and the fine-mesh polyamide net holds the fine wool fibers together. Polyamide makes Santiago Light very durable without affecting comfort.

With an impressive running length of 300 m per 50 g, Santiago Light has a very long range. Therefore, you don't need many skeins of yarn to knit or crochet a sweater with a lovely and super light result.

Santiago Light is the improved version of New Sky Light, which is a discontinued Mayflower quality. Santiago Light stands out by containing significantly more of the soft merino wool, making the yarn even softer. Santiago Light is also easier to knit with, as unlike New Sky Light, no elastic polyamide is used. Since the two yarns have the same Knitting gauge, you can use Santiago Light for Patterns, which was originally developed for New Sky Light. Just remember to always start with a crochet or knitting sample that you wash before measuring it to ensure you achieve the specified Knitting gauge.

Santiago Light is particularly ideal for clothing, scarves, and accessories. The yarn is flexible, allowing you to knit on a thick needle to achieve an even lighter and airier result or combine 2 or more threads. You can also use the yarn as a companion thread together with, for example, wool, where it can contribute with an extra fluffy and soft structure.

Santiago Light is also available in a thicker version, Santiago, which is suitable for needle/hook 6 mm and up.
