Peruvian baby alpaca is the finest and softest among alpaca fibers, and you can already sense how exceptionally soft Premium Alpaca actually is. However, the fluffy yarn not only has the softest and most delightful texture, but also a really high durability, so your knitting or crocheting can last for many years to come.

Baby alpaca from Peru is also known for being an extra warm fiber compared to other alpaca wool, just as the warm and insulating fiber also has high breathability. Premium Alpaca is therefore ideal for knitted and crocheted projects such as sweaters, vests, hats, scarves, and other warm and soft clothing. Alpaca does not contain lanolin. The yarn feels wonderful against the skin and is delightful to work with.

The soft baby alpaca has a slight weight, which gives the finished project a beautiful, natural drape with fine draping. The natural weight of the yarn also means that you need to be careful not to knit too loosely when knitting with 100% alpaca. Therefore, we recommend being cautious with, for example, brioche and garter stitch, which can grow and become longer.

With a Knitting gauge at 21 stitches x 30 rows, the fluffy Premium Alpaca can be used for a variety of different projects. However, the smooth surface and natural weight mean that you cannot simply replace, for example, 100% wool with 100% alpaca 1:1. Here, it becomes extra important to make a knitting or crochet swatch, which is washed according to the instructions before measuring.

Premium Alpaca is available in 30 different colors. Since alpaca fibers take color particularly well, Premium Alpaca comes in the most beautiful, strong, and clear colors, which have an exceptional color depth. The majority of the colors are melange, which gives the yarn and the finished project even more color play and character.

Fantastic experience.
Completely painless experience buying yarn from Mayflower. My order was sent off super quickly and I already had my package the next day. It was extremely great, as I needed it as a gift!

Kristian

Good experience in the webshop and great handling of complaints. In March, I bought a lot of yarn skeins in the webshop. Super fast delivery and very nice quality yarn: Cotton Merino.

Mette

I bought a lot of yarn from the webshop after getting really good guidance over the phone. The yarn was really good. The problem was the delivery with dao, which did not live up to what was ordered. I wrote to mayflower to make them aware of it, and was called by the nicest Lady, who was happy for the feedback and compensated my wasted delivery costs. That's what I call really good customer service.
