Mayflower Cotton 8/4 is a classic. A 4-ply yarn in 100% pure cotton of the best quality. Probably our most well-known yarn and the original specialty since Mayflower was founded over 70 years ago.

Cotton 8/4 is both durable and soft. It is breathable and wicks away excess heat, making it especially suitable for, for example, summer clothing. The yarn is also very suitable for both knitted and crocheted dishcloths, as cotton has a high absorbency and withstands washing at high temperatures. 8/4 cotton yarn is also the preferred crochet yarn for, for example, teddy bears.

Cotton in 8/4 thickness is one of the most used yarn qualities in Denmark. At the same time, cotton yarn was also one of the primary yarns and a hallmark of Mayflower right from the start in 1951. Mayflower Cotton 8/4 was one of our first popular yarn qualities, and we still use the many years of expertise in cotton today to produce some of the best cotton yarn on the market.

Cotton 8/4 consists of 100% pure cotton of really good quality, ensuring that the cotton yarn is both soft and durable. These are just two of the properties that have made Mayflower Cotton 8/4 a sought-after type of yarn, but there are also many other reasons to choose the 4-ply classic.

Cotton is an organic and pure natural material, ensuring good breathability. Cotton also wicks excess heat away from the body, making Cotton 8/4 particularly suitable for, for example, summer clothes, which should preferably not become too warm. The possibilities are many with pure cotton: fine tops and light blouses, baby knits, baby blankets, or a crocheted bucket hat. An 8/4 cotton works best on needle 3mm. Amigurumi and crocheted teddy bears are also good to crochet in Cotton 8/4.

Cotton yarn is also distinguished by having a fantastic absorbency, which is why pure cotton yarn is typically used for crocheted and knitted dishcloths. Be aware that all pure cotton can actually withstand boiling washes, which is important for, for example, dishcloths and towels. However, colors can fade at high temperatures. Therefore, we generally recommend washing blouses and the like at a maximum of 40 degrees, so your clothes stay nice longer.
