Embla Cardigan (Crocheted)
The Embla cardigan is a lovely and voluminous crocheted cardigan, which due to the pattern looks like knitwear. The cardigan has a slightly oversized fit and loose balloon sleeves and is finished with firmer edges at the sleeves and the bottom of the cardigan. The design is simple and easy to approach, making it suitable for both experienced and beginner crocheters.
The body of the cardigan is crocheted from one side to the other and over the shoulder, understood in such a way that you start by crocheting a long row of chain stitches and continue in single crochet in one piece, which goes from the bottom of the front piece over the shoulder to the bottom of the back piece. When the shoulder is finished, only half of the piece is crocheted to form the back. At the start of the next shoulder, more chain stitches are made again so that the piece goes down to the bottom of the front piece. The sleeves are crocheted separately, sewn together, and sewn into the armhole.
The rib pattern is created by crocheting half double crochets in the back loop, and the edges at the bottom of the cardigan and at the armholes are made by switching to tight single crochets. The cardigan is finished with buttons.
The Embla cardigan is crocheted in the soft and full-bodied Mayflower Venezia, which is spun from a lovely blend of cotton and wool. The blend makes the cardigan warm but also breathable, making it great to use all year round. The cardigan is soft and delightful to wear, and the balloon effect makes the cardigan feel light to wear.
