The mittens are knitted from the cuff. Cast on stitches with an Italian cast-on and knit in the round in rib. After the cuff, the front of the mitten is knitted with a cable pattern according to charts, while the back is knitted in stockinette stitch. Room for a thumb is made along the way. Decreases are made, and the stitches are closed with grafting. The thumb is knitted last by picking up stitches, knitting in the round in stockinette stitch, and making decreases before closing the thumb.

Sizes:

The mittens can only be knitted in one width but can be adjusted in length. The width of the mittens after washing and blocking is 10 cm and will best fit a hand with a circumference of 18-22 cm. If your hand is narrower than this, you can advantageously avoid stretching the mittens too much during blocking, or knit with slightly thinner yarn so the gauge becomes 23-24 stitches per 10 cm.
