The mittens are knitted from the cuff. Cast on stitches using an Italian cast-on and knit in the round in ribbing. After the cuff, the front of the mitten is knitted with a cable pattern following charts, while the back is knitted in stockinette stitch. Space is made for a thumb along the way. Decreases are made and stitches are bound off with Kitchener stitch. The thumb is knitted at the end by picking up stitches, knitting in the round in stockinette stitch, and making decreases before binding off the thumb.
