The skeins of Mayflower London Merino Fine in 2nd sorting are the same good yarn quality, as the fiber composition has not been changed. Therefore, you get the same good result in your knitting and crocheting projects. The difference is that there may be irregularities in the spinning of the skeins in 2nd sorting. However, these irregularities are not so visible in the finished knitting or crocheting result, and any irregularities will be further evened out after washing.

London Merino Fine 1st sorting usually costs 45 DKK per skein

London Merino Fine is a classic wool yarn in extra fine merino for needle size 3. It is spun from 100% pure merino wool and is one of Mayflower's finest and softest yarns. The yarn is comfortable, even against sensitive skin, and is therefore excellent for baby knitting and crocheting; such as baby sweaters, bonnets, bloomers, and baby blankets.

The yarn is extra elastic and therefore retains both elasticity and softness, even after washing. The yarn's structure will make lace patterns, cables, and textured knitting appear with beautifully defined stitches.

The wool is superwash-treated and can therefore withstand machine washing.

Mayflower London Merino Fine is a wonderful yarn and actually one of our softest wool yarns. It consists of 100% pure merino wool of really good quality from South America, which also means it is mulesing-free. The yarn is spun in Italy with a focus on high quality throughout the entire production.

London Merino Fine is a fantastically soft, warm, and comfortable yarn because it is spun from extra fine merino wool. The extremely fine yarn structure provides a beautiful and distinct stitch definition, and the yarn's elasticity makes it easy to work with. The elasticity also contributes an extra beautiful effect to textured patterns and cables, which will pop out and be defined even more clearly.

The extra fine wool makes London Merino Fine particularly suitable for both children's knitting and baby knitting. The wool's properties are also ideal, as it makes the yarn both warm and breathable. On needle 3 mm, there are many possibilities to knit, for example, fine sweaters, bloomers, baby bonnets, etc., which are soft and warm for the baby and feel nice to wear. Knitted or crocheted baby blankets will also be lovely in London Merino Fine - and also easy to maintain.

The wool is superwash-treated and can therefore withstand machine washing. London Merino Fine has a lovely resilience, which means that the elasticity and softness are preserved even after a trip in the washing machine. Just remember to use wool detergent and never fabric softener when washing wool. It is often sufficient just to air your wool clothing, which also doesn't wear it out.

If you tend to knit or crochet loosely, it might be a good idea to adjust ½-1 size down in needle or Needle when working with a classic merino yarn like this. We recommend that you always start by making a knitting or crochet swatch and wash it according to the instructions to ensure your Knitting gauge is correct.

Since London Merino Fine has a high elasticity, it can be a challenge to combine the yarn with a non-elastic companion thread, like Super Kid Silk. Therefore, we generally do not recommend this combination, especially if you do not have much experience with knitting. If you still choose to knit these two yarn qualities together, you must be extremely careful to knit evenly and with consistent tension in both yarns to ensure a beautiful result.
