Furthermore, the needles are durable and can last for many years due to their robust material. However, they do not retain warmth as well as wooden needles, and many people enjoy the warm feeling of wooden needles in their hands.

Another option is to use KnitPro Karbonz circular needles, made from carbon fiber. These circular needles are warm like wooden needles but also possess the durability of metal. Additionally, they are incredibly lightweight since carbon fiber is a very light material. Therefore, carbon fiber circular needles combine several advantageous features from both wood and metal.

What to Look for When Buying Circular Needles

We have many different circular needles in our range, and there are several things to consider before choosing your needles.

First and foremost, you should choose the right material, using the tips we shared in the previous section if needed. However, material selection is far from the only factor to consider. You'll also find that each needle has several measurements.

All our circular needles have a measurement indicated in millimeters (mm). This refers to the diameter of the needle, and it's crucial to choose a needle of the correct thickness for the specific knitting project and yarn you'll be using. When following a pattern, there is typically a recommended needle size and gauge. Note that the needle size is only a guideline. If you knit loosely or tightly, you may need a different needle thickness to achieve the correct gauge. If you're uncertain about gauge, it may be a good idea to also purchase a slightly thicker and slightly thinner circular needle to ensure you have a needle that can achieve the precise gauge.

Circular needles also have another measurement indicated in centimeters (cm). This refers to the total length of the needles. That is, the length of the cable plus the needles at each end. The length of the circular needle is important, for example, in circular knitting.

Why Use Circular Needles?

If you have a good selection of circular needles, you can knit just about anything. A circular needle can be used for virtually all projects—even those where you would normally use jumper needles or double-pointed needles.

Jumper needles are used when working on larger projects that are knitted back and forth. In this case, however, a circular needle can also be used, and many find it more comfortable to work with a circular needle as it is not as heavy.

Double-pointed needles are used, as the name suggests, for knitting socks, but often double-pointed needles are also recommended for knitting sleeves or other smaller projects where knitting in the round is required. However, a circular needle can also be used here if you use the magic loop technique, for example.
