The cardigan is constructed with a saddle shoulder. First, stitches is cast on for the back piece, after which it is knitted back and forth while the shoulders and neck opening are created through increases. When all increases for the sleeves are made, the sleeve stitches are put on hold while the body is lengthened by knitting back and forth. At the bottom, a rib edge is made, which is finished with double knitting and an Italian bind-off. The sleeve stitches are put back on the needle and knitted in the pearl rib pattern while decreases are made and finished with a rib edge and Italian bind-off. Finally, the button placket is knitted by picking up stitches along the neck edge and sides, which are knitted in double knitting while making buttonholes along the way.
