The mittens are knitted from the cuff. stitches are cast on using an Italian cast-on and knitted in the round in rib. After the cuff, the front of the mitten is knitted with a cable pattern according to charts, while the back is knitted in stockinette stitch. Space is made for a thumb along the way. Decreases are made and the stitches are bound off with grafting. The thumb is knitted last, by picking up stitches, knitting in the round in stockinette stitch, and making decreases before binding off the thumb.
