When an over-width is given in Mayflower patterns, this number is adjusted to the fit that the designer intended the design to have. The stated bust width also includes the range of motion.

Crochet shoulder bag with a long strap that is worked in two strands and measures approx. 31 x 26 cm. The bag is crocheted in cotton with 2 strands: 1 strand Mayflower Cotton 8/8 and 1 strand of the slightly thinner Mayflower Cotton 8/4.
The thick Cotton 8/8 is the base color throughout, while alternating between 4 different colors of Cotton 8/4 to give a continuous color change.
To work the bag in the round from the bottom up, first work a chain stitch row, then single crochet on both sides of the chain stitch row, doubling the number of stitches.
Cotton yarn is the ideal yarn for a crochet shoulder bag like this, as cotton is both firm and soft to work with. The bag will therefore be soft while holding its shape well. Cotton is also a durable and strong yarn, so your bag can easily withstand daily use.
You can also get crochet patterns for a small purse and a clutch in the same design.
