Children's knitwear should be adventurous and tongue-in-cheek, but at the same time, it should also be something that appeals to parents. The Flying Suitcase Sweater is a perfect example of a design that will appeal to both children and adults.
The sweater is covered in a simple textured pattern that is repeated on both the body and sleeves of the sweater. The pattern is worked from a chart and consists of rectangles that are separated by transverse lines. The result is distinctive and gives the sweater plenty of personality.
The Flying Suitcase Sweater is knitted in Mayflower Easy Care Big, which is a relatively strong wool yarn. Our Easy Care Big is perfect for children's knitting, as the yarn is first and foremost soft and scratch-free. It is also machine washable and tumble dryable, making daily care extra easy - and your child can safely play in the sweater.
Although the textured pattern looks advanced, it's relatively easy to knit and the pattern includes a clear chart. The sweater is worked in the round from the bottom up. At the armholes, the back and front are finished separately, and the sleeves are knitted and attached at the end.
