The Edna Dress has a striped waistband that makes the dress sit nicely around the waist, and the high collar is knitted with the same stripes. The striped effect is achieved by knitting crosswise.

You start by knitting the striped waist piece and then work the bodice upwards from the waist piece. Similarly, work the skirt from the waist piece down. Then work the sleeves and finally the collar.

Afterwards, you can sew elastic thread to the waistband to make the dress fit more into the waist.

You knit the Edna Dress in Mayflower Easy Care Classic Tweed, where the yarn's viscose threads give the dress its characteristic tweed look and mottled color. The striped waist and collar are knitted in the slightly thinner Mayflower Easy Care. Both yarns are 100% pure new wool, which is warm and insulating with good breathability. With the high collar, the wool Edna Dress is a warm and comfortable winter dress that will keep you warm on cold days. The yarn is machine washable.
