A lovely poncho with the most beautiful details that is also incredibly comfortable on a chilly day. The poncho is knitted from two identical rectangles using the domino stitch technique, where the large rectangles are sewn together to form a poncho. The neck edge and the outer edge are then worked in the round along the entire length of the piece.

Domino knitting is a special knitting method where you knit the squares along the way by casting on a new square at the edge of an already knitted square. We don't need to tell you that it's a technique with beautiful results, because the pictures speak for themselves, and domino knitting is a technique with very minimal assembly work.

The Elvira poncho is knitted in Mayflower Easy Care Tweed, where the tweed skeins give the ribbed domino squares the mottled look and play of color. The edges around the domino squares, as well as the edge along the poncho and at the neck opening, are knitted in Mayflower Easy Care. Both yarns are 100% wool, making the poncho warm, soft and comfortable. It won't be too heavy to wear either, as both yarns are lightweight. The yarns have the same gauge, so you can easily use Mayflower Easy Care for the entire poncho if you want a completely solid colored poncho. The possibilities are endless with Mayflower Easy Care and Mayflower Easy Care Tweed.
