The Mayflower size guide is based on chest width measured directly on the body.
When an over-width is given in Mayflower patterns, this number is adjusted to the fit that the designer intended the design to have. The stated bust width also includes the range of motion.

This tie with the Swedish flag is a super interesting element of a festive wardrobe that is perfect for birthday, Christmas or sporting events. It is knitted by right masks so it gets firm with nice edges. The tie is knitted longitudinally and has turning sticks where you need the technique 'German Short Row'. It is important that both lookup, knitting and closure are knitted tight.
