When an over-width is given in Mayflower patterns, this number is adjusted to the fit that the designer intended the design to have. The stated bust width also includes the range of motion.

The Lighthouse Sweater is a charming children's sweater that can be knitted for both boys and girls. Don't be intimidated by the sweater's advanced rib structure, as the sweater is knitted in faux patent, which is a surprisingly simple knitting technique.
False patent is a very elastic knitting technique that gives a sweater with a great fit that adapts to the body's movements. Perfect for active children, where the sweater should be suitable for a day of play and free movement.
The sweater is designed with many fine details, all of which you will probably only discover when you start knitting the sweater. For example, notice the beautiful stripe that runs down the side of the sweater and creates a flattering contrast to the rib structure.
In this pattern we have used Mayflower Baby Alpaca, which combines alpaca and polyamide to create an ultra-soft yet durable quality that is ideal for children's knitting. Alternatively, you can also use Mayflower Easy Care Classic. A 100% pure wool quality that can withstand both the washing machine and the tumble dryer.
The pattern is easier than it may seem, as the faux patent is quite simple to knit, as you only need to knit and purl.
