When an over-width is given in Mayflower patterns, this number is adjusted to the fit that the designer intended the design to have. The stated bust width also includes the range of motion.

A crochet baby cardigan and bonnet from our archive of retro patterns. Both have a checkered pattern, so three different colors are used.
The sweater is worked from the bottom up to the armholes, then the front and back are worked separately. The sleeves are crocheted as a square, sewn together and attached to the armholes. Crochet a nice finish around the edge and at the sleeves and attach buttons to the cardigan.
The neck is also crocheted in squares and finished with a wavy edge and a tie around the chin.
Both pieces are crocheted in Mayflower Cotton 8/4, which is a wonderfully soft and comfortable yarn. The yarn is breathable, so baby won't get too hot in the cotton garment as the body can easily dissipate the heat. The yarn is also machine washable and easy to care for.
You can also use the organic cotton version Mayflower Cotton 8/4 Organic. The GOTS-certified yarn has the same knitting tension and running length and is available in some great colors just like the regular Cotton 8/4.
