The Michelle sweater has a classic structure and a wide floral pattern with borders on both body and sleeves, which creates a nice contrast to the base color. The sweater has a thick and delicious structure, as it is knitted with 2 strands in different qualities.

The Michelle sweater is worked top down with raglan increases in the yoke. After the yoke, the sleeve sts are rested while the body is finished. Work in pattern to create the beautiful floral motif. Then finish the sleeves. The bottom rib, sleeve edges and neck edge are all worked in twisted rib, which gives a more defined rib.

The sweater has a lovely structure and fullness as it is knitted with 1 strand of yarn Mayflower Easy Care Classic and 1 strand Mayflower Super Kid Silk. This combination of wool, mohair and silk makes for a really nice and soft sweater that is fluffy and warm, but still breathable and comfortable to wear - especially on a chilly day or evening.

With the use of different colors, you can either create a muted sweater with a subtle pattern by choosing a contrasting color that is similar to the base color, or you can create more of a pop with a completely different color than the base color. In fact, you should also knit the Michelle sweater with tweed yarn. Mayflower Easy Care Classic Tweed has the same running length and gauge and can therefore replace the original yarn.

To get the best results when knitting the Fair Isle pattern, it's important that you don't pull the yarn too tight behind the work - you can go up a half to a whole needle size when knitting the pattern. We also recommend choosing a dark base color and a lighter pattern color for this project. If you use a very light base color with a dark pattern color, you risk that the fine mohair fibers from the dark pattern color will also be visible when you knit the pattern with the base color.
