Shell Sweater Pattern
The sweater is knitted from the top down. First, stitches stitches are cast on for the neckline, which is knitted in twisted rib and folded into a double neckline. Then short rows are knitted to shape the neckline. The yoke is knitted with raglan increases around 8 stitch markers. When the yoke is finished, stitches stitches are set aside for the sleeves. The body is knitted in the round and finished with a twisted rib edge, which is bound off with an Italian bind-off. The sleeve stitches are then placed back on the needle and knitted straight down in the shell pattern, with decreases made just before the rib edge to create the balloon effect. The sleeves are finished with twisted rib edges and Italian bind-offs.
