The Mayflower size guide is based on chest width measured directly on the body.
When an over-width is given in Mayflower patterns, this number is adjusted to the fit that the designer intended the design to have. The stated bust width also includes the range of motion.

The cutest romper in a simple style for the sweetest baby. Knitted in the soft, lovely Mayflower Easy Care.
The knitted rhombus can be made in solid colors or, as here, in stripes, just as Easy Care has a lot of beautiful colors to choose from, ranging from the very delicate to the stronger colors.
Easy Care is a fantastic wool yarn with several great qualities: super soft, wonderfully warm, naturally insulating and still breathable. In other words, it's a great and practical yarn choice, especially for baby clothes, and it's even machine washable and dryer safe.
NOTE: The original design is made in Mayflower Easy Care color. 50. Unfortunately, the color has been discontinued. As a replacement, we recommend color. 44, which is similar to the discontinued color. Just be aware that you will get a different result than in the picture. You choose the color yourself by clicking 'Choose another color', which unfolds the entire color card.
