Cable knitting is one of the most beautiful and unique knitting techniques - and as an added bonus, it's also fun to knit cables. The technique may seem overwhelming if you're new to cable knitting, but it's actually not difficult to learn if you start with a manageable project.

Mayflower's cable hat is just such an easy cable project. You'll be working simple cables across six stitches, so you'll try working with a double pointed needle in the front and back of the piece.

The hat is knitted in Mayflower Molly Fine, which is a 100% lightly spun wool yarn quality that is both warm and breathable. The lightly spun yarn means that the yarn is relatively strong, so you get a thick and wonderfully warm hat that can be worn on the coldest days of the year.

Molly Fine is the perfect yarn for this knitting project. The lightly spun wool gives an extra airy yarn quality that doesn't get heavy despite the thickness of the yarn. At the same time, the yarn is also excellent for knitting, as the stitches lay down nicely and create beautiful cables.
