Mayflower Cotton 8/8 Big is a thick, 8-ply cotton yarn of good quality, consisting of 100% pure cotton. The yarn is related to the thinner Cotton 8/4 and is spun on the same fibers. Therefore, the two types of yarn also share many of the same advantages.

The thicker 8/8 quality is particularly suitable for creative ideas where the finished result should have a certain structure and volume. The yarn is durable and absorbent and can be used for, for example, knitted clothing, crocheted bags, stuffed animals, amigurumi, and interior items.

Mayflower 8/8 Big is the thicker version of the classic and well-known Cotton 8/4. The yarn is similarly spun from pure cotton of really high quality. Cotton yarn has been Mayflower's specialty for the past 70 years since the company's founding in 1951, and cotton is still one of the cornerstones in the yarn range today.

With Cotton 8/8 Big, it's easy to finish your craft projects quickly, whether it's knitting or crocheting. We have quite a few Patterns for our 8/8, and if you're looking for an even larger selection, you can, for example, take a look at our teddy bear patterns for Cotton 8/4. Often you can use the exact same Pattern. The result just becomes larger when you use the thicker 8/8 quality. Just remember to use a larger crochet hook that matches Cotton 8/8.

100% cotton like our Cotton 8/8 Big actually withstands boiling wash. An important quality when it comes to interior items like knitted dishcloths, towels, and baby blankets. However, colors may fade at high temperatures. Therefore, we generally recommend washing colored cotton at a maximum of 40 degrees so the colors stay nice longer. But teddy bears and stuffed animals sometimes experience being dragged across floors, stairs, and worse, so it's very practical with a yarn that can withstand washing at high temperatures.

Cotton 8/8 is available in beautiful colors - both strong and subdued. Additionally, there is also a wide selection of natural colors, which are in demand by many, especially for crocheted animals like teddy bears and amigurumi. The two cotton yarns also share a color chart.
