Cotton 8/4 is both durable and soft. It is breathable and directs excess heat away, making it particularly suitable for e.g. summer clothes. The yarn is also very suitable for both knitted and crocheted dishcloths, as cotton has a high suction capacity and can withstand washing at high temperature. 8/4 cotton yarn is also the preferred crochet yarn for eg teddy bears.

Cotton in 8/4 thickness is one of the most commonly used yarn qualities in Denmark. At the same time, cotton yarn was also one of the primary yarns and a distinctive feature of Mayflower from the very beginning in 1951. Mayflower Cotton 8/4 was one of our first popular yarn qualities, and we still use our many years of cotton expertise to produce some of the best cotton yarn on the market today.

Cotton 8/4 consists of 100% pure cotton of excellent quality, which ensures that the cotton yarn is both soft and durable. These are just two of the properties that have made Mayflower Cotton 8/4 a sought-after yarn, but there are many other reasons to choose the 4-strand classic.

Cotton is an organic and pure natural material, which ensures good breathability. Cotton also conducts excess heat away from the body, which makes Cotton 8/4 particularly suitable for summer clothing, for example, which should not get too hot. The possibilities are endless with pure cotton: fine tops and lightweight blouses, baby knitwear, baby blankets or a crocheted bobble hat. An 8/4 cotton works best on a 3mm needle. Amigurumi and crocheted teddy bears are also great to crochet in Cotton 8/4.

Cotton yarn also has excellent absorbency, which is why pure cotton yarn is typically used for crocheted and knitted dishcloths. Keep in mind that all pure cotton is actually dishwasher safe, which is important for items such as dishcloths and towels. However, the colors can fade at high temperatures. Therefore, we generally recommend washing blouses etc. at max 40 degrees to keep your clothes looking good for longer.
